Xmas: Kwara Police Warn Against Taking Expensive Phones To Churches

Kwara State Police Command has said that measures to ensure adequate security cover have been provided for churches and mosques in the state, during and after yuletide celebrations.

A statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, on Monday, however, advised Christian faithful against going to places of worship, carrying expensive phones, laptops and other gadgets, saying that doing such may attract criminals.

“Another Christmas celebration is here, as such, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Bashir Makama, on behalf of officers and men of the police command, wishes the Christian faithful and all Kwarans a merry Christmas and prosperous New year.

“He assures that adequate security is fully on the ground for hitch-free celebrations, however, he admonished good people of Kwara of the need to celebrate in peace.

“Dangerous driving, acrobatic display by auto drivers and okada riders must be avoided, excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and illicit drug abuses are capable to impair right judgement and as such must be avoided,” the statement said.

The command also said that ban on firework/knock out bangers, without permission, was still in force, advising parents and guardians to monitor their children/wards, just as it said that carnivals and unlawful gatherings by the youth would be met with stiff resistance.

“The command is prepared to deal with criminals who may want to breach the peace and harmony prevailing in the state.
