Community Senior Secondary School, Vetland Junior Grammar School, win MUTAN Science and Islamic Quiz Competition

Community Senior Secondary School, Workyard and Vetland Junior Grammar School, Ifako Ijaiye, have emerged winners in the Senior and Junior categories respectively of the 2023/2024 Lagos State Muslim Teachers’ Association (MUTAN) Science and Islamic Studies Quiz competition held at the Ikeja Grammar School, Bolade, Oshodi on Saturday.
Community Senior Secondary School, Workyard contingent made up of Ilyas Amudalat Oyindamola and Hassan Abibat Mojisola, representing District VI, emerged first in the senior category. The duo won the star prize of N100, 000, trophy school bags and certificates.
Vetland Junior Grammar School of Education District I, represented by Bolaji Oriola and Ismail Royhanna emerged first in the Junior category thereby securing the star prize of N100, 000, trophy, school bags and certificates.
Eko Akete Senior Grammar School, Lagos Island from Education District III, represented by Alade Abdulhadi and Alabi Idris came second in the senior Category and won for themselves the sum of N70, 000, school bags and certificates.
The third position in the senior category was clinched by Araromi Ilogbo Senior Secondary School, Oko Afo, Education District V. The duo of Mudashiru Ibrahim and Adisa Mariam won the prize of N50, 000 school bags and certificates.
The fourth, fifth and sixth positions went to Surulere Senior Secondary School, Alagbado from District I, Apapa Senior High School, Apapa from District IV and Angus Memorial Senior High School, Igbobi from District II.
The second position in the Junior category was won by Pobuna Junior Secondary School, Epe, District III. The school was represented by Adedeji Rahmat and Mayale Eke Haneessah.
The final position on the podium in the junior category went to Oriwu Junior Model College, Ikorodu, District II. The school was represented by Abdulsalam Muzamil and Lemboye Abdulraheem.
The other positions in the junior category went to Saint Joseph Junior Secondary School, Mushin, District VI, Festac Junior College, Festac Town, District V and AUD Junior High School, Falolu, Surulere, District IV, which came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The MUTAN President, Alhaji Abdulfatai Oladejo, said the programme was intended to further enrich the knowledge of Muslim students which is one of the goals of the association.
He therefore charged the Muslim students to see the Muslim teachers as their parents
‘We are glad to inform you the students, that, we your fathers and mothers are behind you, we may not be your biological parents but we are your co-parents, we will like to support you because one thing unifies us – AL-ISLAM. We might differ in tribes, States or language’.
