Invest in your children’s Islamic education, Ansar-Ud-Deen tasks parents

Parents and guardians have been implored to invest in Islamic education of their children and not limit their involvement to western education alone.

This charge was made at the eighth Walimotul Quran ceremony of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ipaja, Lagos State branch.

Delivering the lecture entitled Islamic Education: Challenges and the way forward, Imam Qmarudeen Kolawole from Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Agege branch, said Muslim parents are shepherds from whom Allah would ask how they took care of the children put in their care in terms of educating them in the ways of Allah.

He therefore challenged parents to create room for Islamic and Arabic education of their children.

He condemned the moral laxity of parents who no longer care about upbringing of their children, having abdicated all responsibilities to teachers.

He also deplored a situation where parents and teachers can no longer discipline children again because of government placing child rights ahead of their responsibility and upbringing.

The branch chairman, Alhaji Kelani Adebisi Sanni, implored Muslims to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Ipaja Quranic School to enrol their children.

The chairman of the event, Alhaji Shakrudeen Onike, attributed conversion of Muslims to other religions to lack of knowledge of the religion.

He therefore challenged parents of the graduating students not to stop their Islamic education just because they have performed Walimotul Quran, saying there is a lot more ahead.

Ten students of the institute graduated at the ceremony.

They are Abdul Haadi Uthman, Abdul Rahman Uthman, Raimot Bisiriyu, Huzeifa Adeyemo, Ishaq Ibraheem, Khaleed Ipaye, and Haleemah Folarin.

Others are Moridiyat Hassan, Aishat Sholaja and Halimat Yusuf Odunewu.

A cross section of the parents reserved special praises for the Ustazh of the Madrasah, Alfa Kamaldeen Olaide Yusuf and the branch missioner, Alhaji Imam Abdul Rasaq Uthman for the successful completion of the first phase of the children’s Islamic education.
