Support Tinubu, others with prayers, former commissioner charges Nigerians, says hardship almost over

Two-term commissioner in Lagos State, Pharmacist Uzamat Akinbile Yusuf, has urged Nigerians to support to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders in the country with prayers, stating that the country is close to the end of the hardship currently being experienced.
Akinbile-Yusuf made this charge during the Ramadan Lecture of her organisation, Moremi Goodwill Project in Lagos.
Delivering the keynote address at the lecture, she said the economic hardship currently being experienced is coming to an end to be followed by enjoyment and ease.
‘Although things are hard, but like Allah has said in the Quran, after hardship comes ease. We have got to the end of the hardship by the Grace of Allah. We should pray that those of us who have witnessed the hardship will also be part of those to experience the enjoyment’, she said.

She restated her confidence in the ability of President Bola Tinubu to put things in order.
‘I am proud to be one of those who campaigned for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I’m confident in his ability. He is the best for Nigeria at this time.
‘I never have any cause for regret. Our hope is just getting renewed. Things were really bad. We just have to be helping with prayers. What Nigeria needs now is prayer. The president and all our leaders need our prayers’, she said.
Speaking on the Ramadan lecture with the theme Role of Women in Nation Development During Economic Challenges, she implored women to support their husbands to cushion the effects of the economic hardship.

‘There are lot of hardship in the land. We as women need to do a lot to support our husbands and cover up for them. Allah has given us women the capacity to multi task than men. He has made it easy for us to do and He has promised to reward us for it.
‘I want to encourage all women, especially Muslim women, please let us support our men. Do not let us victimise them. We are not only supporting our husbands, but also our children. We shouldn’t say bad words to them that would make them to be brooding. It can cause them to lose their self-esteem. This can cause a lot of problem in the family’, the former commissioner charged.
The Guest Speaker at the lecture, Shaikh Abdulmumuni Raji Okin, identified exploitation of agriculture and mineral resources as solutions to the economic hardship currently being experienced in the country.
According to him, Islam put great emphasis on the role of women in the economy.
Quoting the Quran, he gave the example of the two young women Prophet Musa met at the well fending for their father’s cattle despite being female. He also cited the example of Mariam who after giving birth was charged by Allah to look for fruit that she would eat.
These examples, according to him, shows that Allah does not want women to be idle, but to be contributors to economic development of the family.
He therefore charged Muslim women to concentrate on their work and studies so that they can be useful to the family instead of just being dependent on their husbands.
The Ramadan lecture is an annual programme of the former commissioner who has served in various ministries including Ministry of Tourism between 2015 and 2023 under Governors Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
